Q: What types of rebates does Inner Child Psychology accept?
At Inner Child Psychology, we offer several options to help make our services more accessible:
-
Medicare: We accept Mental Health Care Plans from GPs and Helping Children with Autism plans from Paediatricians, allowing eligible clients to receive rebates for their sessions.
-
NDIS: We accept both self-managed and plan-managed NDIS participants, providing support to those with approved funding and relevant goals.
-
Private Health Insurance: Depending on your policy, you may be eligible for rebates with your private health insurance.
Q: What happens in the first appointment (initial consultation)?
In your first appointment at Inner Child Psychology, we begin with a parent-only initial consultation. This gives you space to speak openly and helps your psychologist gather the information needed to tailor support from the very start.
During the first hour, we’ll build a clear picture of your child and what life looks like day-to-day. We’ll ask about your child’s interests, strengths, personality, hobbies, your family and support network, school, your current concerns, and any past assessments or supports.
In the final 30 minutes, we’ll work together on goal setting and map out the next steps. This may include planning for your child’s first session (so it feels safe and engaging), discussing the most suitable format (e.g., individual child sessions, parent sessions, or an assessment pathway), and what to expect moving forward.
You’ll leave the appointment with a clear, practical plan for the next stage of support.
