Autism Assessment

Our autism assessment process involves an initial consultation with parents to discuss traits of autism and any current concerns to help inform the assessment process. The assessments include an ADOS-2 evaluation to observe the child's communication, social interaction, play, and imagination, and an ADI-R assessment to gather information from parents on the child's behaviour and development.

After the assessment, a detailed report is written, including recommendations and next steps. We strive to ensure transparency and communication throughout the process.

Cognitive Assessments

A cognitive assessment, often called an IQ test or psychometric testing, helps determine a child’s learning potential and preferred approach to learning. It measures various cognitive abilities, such as verbal comprehension, visuospatial reasoning, fluid reasoning, working memory, and processing speed, offering valuable insights into a child’s cognitive strengths and differences.

These assessments support diagnosing learning difficulties, intellectual disabilities, or identifying intellectual giftedness, helping to create tailored learning plans and classroom accommodations. A widely used tool for this is the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC-V), which measures key cognitive areas to understand how a child learns.

Educational Assessments

An educational assessment, also called an academic evaluation, measures a child’s performance in various academic areas and compares their progress to age expectations and peers. It identifies strengths and skill levels in reading, writing, mathematics, and written expression, offering valuable insights into their academic abilities.

These assessments help pinpoint a child’s specific academic skills, diagnose learning disorders such as Dyslexia or Dyscalculia, and develop strategies for classroom support. The Wechsler Individual Achievement Test (WIAT-III) is used to guide the formulation of individualised learning plans based on a child’s strengths and differences.

ADHD Assessments

Our ADHD assessment process involves an initial consultation with parents to discuss traits of ADHD utilising the Young-DIVA assessment as well as discussing any current concerns to help inform the assessment process and recommendations. The assessments includes a WISC-V assessment with the child, questionnaires with parents and teachers, and a school observation (where appropriate).

After the assessment, a detailed report is written, including recommendations and next steps. We strive to ensure transparency and communication throughout the process.
